This week we have been enjoying the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have listened to different versions of the story, we used toys to retell the story and some children used the props in the home corner to act out the story themselves. We did lots of size sorting, big medium sized and small, using bears, and also other materials we have outside, stones, pine cones and shells. Next week we are continuing the theme of traditional stories by using The Three Little Pigs.

Welcome to all the children and parents who joined us this week. Once again the children who are already settled into our nursery have been real stars, helping the new children and making them feel very welcome!

This week we have been on bear hunts around our outside area, counting how many bears we found! The children have been listening to the story and singing the bear hunt song. We have been introducing lots of new vocabulary through this story. Some children made caves and some painted pictures. Everyone went down to our new wild area, and guess what we found? Yes, bears!

Next week we are continuing the bear theme with the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We have put some of the vocabulary we will be using onto the back of this sheet.

Whitings Hill EYFS is a communication friendly setting. We aim to develop and extend your children’s language skills, extend their vocabulary and encourage them to be confident speakers. The vocabulary on the back of the newsletters will always be related to the following week’s topic. Please spend a few minutes talking about some of the words to your child. Make sure they understand the vocabulary and when they do, try and encourage them to use the words.

Welcome to all the children and parents who joined us this week. The children have all been busy learning names and making new friends.

We are very proud of how helpful and welcoming the children who were already in nursery have been this week.

We have been learning lots of nursery rhymes and number songs. The children have been enjoying the outside area.

We had our first PE sessions this week. But we do need your help! Please try to avoid dressing your child with tights on PE days. We like the children to do PE in bare feet, and as we are encouraging independence it would really help if they had simple shoes and socks on their PE day, no tights, no laces, please! The AM children are going to do PE on Thursdays this term.

Remember you are welcome to take a book from our class library to share at home, just take one as required and replace it in the box with the same colour stickers when you return it.

Welcome back to everyone. We hope you all enjoyed the summer break! The staff certainly did, but we’re all happy to be back ready for a new school year! We welcome Judith, who will be in nursery on Monday and Tuesdays. Virginia be working Wednesday, Thursday and Fridays from now on.

We will be starting to include the 30 hour provision from next week. We have twelve children who are taking up the places and we will be welcoming Lucy, who will be looking after the children who stay for lunches.
