At last March has arrived and brings with it lighter evenings and better weather (hopefully). Our current outdoor PE focus is tag rugby, the children are quickly picking up the rules and already we are improving our skills at tagging our opponents and protecting our own tags. This is our last games focus for this academic year as after the Easter holidays we will spend the Summer term developing our athletics skills.
We are still working hard on our current topic 'Forces and Vikings.’ As part of this topic the children will be given the opportunity to carve soap, weave wool on a hand held loom, make parachutes and sail boats with a selection of different shaped bows in the school swimming pool. It is a wonderful topic that is very engaging and greatly appeals to the children.
The children recently finished making their own information films using the computer application Movie Maker. The aim of each film is to give our audience information about the Solar System, this information had to be presented in an engaging way and contain topic related vocabulary. The skills the children demonstrated when making their films were excellent, they incorporated text formatting, transition effects, text effects and all sorts of other wonderful things to make their films as interesting and eye catching as possible.
Yesterday (04.03.19) we celebrated World Book Day and everyone had a wonderful time in 5M. The children came to school dressed as a book character of their choice, we swapped books and had a fantastic ‘Book Breakfast’. It was heartening to have so many parents and younger siblings join us for breakfast in our classroom, it really shows the children how much adults value reading. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. A great photo of us all is in the photo section of our class page – see if you can spot yourself.
Thank you for your ongoing support, it really is appreciated. See you at Parents Evening at the beginning of next month, we will have the opportunity to discuss your child's school report (reports go out on Friday 29th March and Parents Evening is the following week).
