Summer Term Science topic is

            Rocks and Soils.

This term's Science topic is all about Rocks and Soils.  There is so much to learn!

What shall we be learning?

We will :

  • compare and group together different kinds of rocks on the basis of their appearance and simple physical properties.
  • describe in simple terms how fossils are formed when things that have lived are trapped within rock.
  • recognise that soils are made from rocks and organic matter.

                     Flowering Plants

Our focus in science recently has been flowering plants.

In our last science lesson, we looked at the different parts of a Daffodil, learnt their names and what each part does. We also learnt about germination and pollination. Choose one of the sheets in the link below and complete it to show what happens during the pollination process.

Flowering Plants.

In our last few days at school we each planted seeds and took them home. We hope you are looking after them.

Can you remember what they need to grow?

Think of ways to record what is happening to your seed- What are you observing?

We would love to see pictures of your plants and recordings of your observations..

Ideas for recording your observations

Plants Challenge cards.

We know you all like a challenge... Have a go at the plant challenge cards. You could do one each day!

Don't forget to let us see how you are getting on!

Choose a plant challenge and amaze us with how much you know!

Use the BBC Bitesize website to consolidate your child's learning about our topic so far.

You could grow your own flowering plant and observe the lifecycle, recording it in a diary.
