22nd October 2021

This week we have been doing lots of activities related to the book of the week ‘Little Rabbit Foo Foo.’

The children have had lots of fun making Bunny ears and Crowns as well as dancing and learning new songs.

After the Half term we will be learning about Diwali and also talking about Fireworks and Firework safety.

FAREWELL TO MRS BROWN

It is with great sadness that today we have to say Goodbye to Mrs Brown. Mrs Brown has been a Nursery nurse at Whiting’s Hill school for over 20 years. She has worked with many children and is known to many families at our school.

The children have made some wonderful pictures and messages and helped to put together a special scrap book for Mrs Brown. Furthermore, they did a small performance of goodbye songs which brought us all to tears! We have shared this on Tapestry.

Plese note Monday 1 st November 2021 is an Inset Day. Therefore, children return to school on Tuesday 2nd November.

This week we have been doing lots of exploring and investigating for Science week! Children have watched in fascination as we made our own erupting Volcanoes! We also investigated using different painting techniques to make pictures such as bubble painting with straws and using droppers full of ink for a marbling effect. The children also used real marbles dipped in paint and rolled them in a tray to see colourful results! See Tapestry for photographs!

If you are out for a walk over the next few days we would like to ask you to go on a Nature hunt! What natural items can you find? We would like to make our own nature display in the classroom and would welcome any items you could bring in for display for eg, pine cones, different coloured leaves, conkers, acorns, twigs…

Next week will be our last week before we break up for Half term. It will be with great sadness that we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Brown and wishing her all the best for her retirement. In preparation for giving her a good send off, we asked Mrs Brown what was her favourite book and she told us that it is a book called Little Rabbit Foo Foo by Michael Rosen. This is a very funny story book that has lots of rhyming and we are going to have a fun week reading the book and taking part in lots of related activities. We know Mrs Brown will love sharing this story with the children

We have had a fantastic week looking at rainbows and exploring colours. We have been painting fantastic rainbows, colour mixing, looked at the story “The rainbow Fish” and been making rainbow pizzas. We are busy putting up a wonderful display with all the children’s work in the heart space of the school. When it’s finished we will share pictures with you!

The children have shown a real interest in volcanoes this week so that is what we will be exploring next week. We will be doing lots of different Science experiments – the volcano experiment, blowing bubbles, the skittles experiment and colour mixing.

The children will see Dinosaur world and explore them from the ice age!!! It’s going to be very exciting!
