26th November 2021

The children have had a fabulous week looking at the story “Dear Zoo”. They have enjoyed writing letters to the zoo asking for their favourite animals, made story maps and created giant zoos using large wooden bricks. Next week we will carry on the theme of animals looking at the book “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” by Bill Martin. This is a lovely book that a lot of children may already be familiar with. Young children love the repetitive rhyming language in the book and quickly become familiar with the sequence and guessing what animal will be next! On Wednesday 1st December we will have a dressing up day – the children can wear their favourite colour or dress up as their favourite animal. NURSERY Christmas Concert AM/PM Monday 13th December 2021 will be Nursery’s Christmas sing along. At present, due to Covid restrictions we are unsure if Parents will be invited to watch the children in class. We are hoping to have a decision for you next week regarding adults coming in. However, the date for the concert will still stand and if parents are not allowed to come we will video the concert to share with you on Tapestry. On this date we ask that your child comes to school wearing their Xmas jumper or party clothes to get into the festive spirit! Progress Meetings We will be notifying you shortly, with dates of when your child’s progress meetings will take place. Enjoy your weekend and see y

The children have had another busy week enjoying making a large collage of a rainbow fish, sparkly fish made from playdough and jewels and their own story books. Next week we will focus on activities based on the book Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell. This is a lovely book that a lot of children may already be familiar with. Young children love lifting the flaps to discover the animals the zoo has sent - a monkey, a lion and even an elephant! But will they ever manage to send the perfect pet? Children will talk about the characteristics of the animals. Why they have certain parts of their body? For example trunk etc . Discuss where the animals came from and should they live in the zoo? Creative activities will include making play dough animals with sticks, stones and branches. There will opportunities to cut and make animal characters from cones and create animals from paper tubes

12th November 2021

The children have had another busy week! They enjoyed the story “Room on the Broom” and made fantastic wands, broomsticks – thinking about the characters in the story and hats. We also fit in fireworks and Remembrance Day, so all in all a busy week! Next week we will focus on how to be a good friend and what this looks like. We will explore these topics through the story ‘The Rainbow Fish”. This is a lovely story that explores the theme of friendship and sharing – very important things for children to learn about! We will be making a large collaborative rainbow fish, our own little fish, exploring sea creatures and talking about life ‘under the sea’. It is Odd Socks day on Monday 15th November. Please encourage the children to wear odd socks and we will be talking to them about how everybody is different and it is good to celebrate our individuality.

5th November 2021

This week we looked at the story of ‘Rama and Sita’. The children listened to the story, drew pictures of the characters and created Rangoli patterns, using repeated shape patterns and created divas with the play dough and gems. We asked the children to share how they celebrate Diwali at home with their families. We also talked about Bonfire night – made firework pictures and talked about firework safety.

Next week we will be focusing on the book “Room on the Broom”. The children will be role playing the story, drawing favourite characters and making spells. They will be making their own wands and magic potions.  If you could bring in some short sturdy sticks to make wands out of that would be fantastic
