This evening we received limited information from the London Borough of Barnet in regards to key worker and vulnerable child support. Unfortunately, due to the unique combination of vulnerable staff we have in school, Whitings Hill will not be able to open next week due to lack of enough staff, and staff with the correct training and experience to manage the expected pupils. This is not a decision the school has made lightly.
We will be trying to work with other local schools and the local authority to support those children in a hub location that may be able to support pupils from a range of schools with volunteer staff. A key issue will be the continued availability of volunteer staff who may be forced to self quarantine at any time in the future. As we are sure you understand this is an extremely fast moving situation that may change at any time.
In order for the local authority to assess the capacity needed and to ensure it is therefore safe for all the pupils that may need to attend please complete the following form online by 11am tomorrow. We apologise for the short notice however we do have to process these and submit them by noon.
Please complete the form if EITHER:
At this stage we are having to assess need and cannot guarantee any provision will be available on Monday. We will further contact parents as soon as we have additional information. We are awaiting DfE guidance on the issuing of vouchers for pupils eligible for free school meals. We will offer advice, if required, on this tomorrow.
