We had some nocturnal visitors to the school on Wednesday 28th November when around fifty children from Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 came to hear a bedtime story. This is now a well-established, winter tradition at Whitings Hill and it's always a magical evening for the children, arriving to school in their pyjamas and snuggling down to hear a story with their friends. The subdued lighting in the school building on the evening and the sparkling Christmas tree in the Heart Space add to the occasion.
As always, this event is only possible because your wonderful teachers give up their time to share a book with the children and nurture in them a love of stories and the written word. This year our readers were Mrs Abdel-All (who also organised the event), Mrs Andreou, Mrs Belbagi, Ms Goldwater, Mrs Lindsay, Mr Speed, Miss Sultana and Mrs Yazdankhah. By all accounts, they did a fantastic job and kept the children entranced throughout the evening.
Thanks are also due to Mrs Patel and Miss Clements who helped organise the children and delivered the all important hot chocolate.
Finally, and just as importantly, we would like to thank the parents who turned up with their children on a cold and wet December evening. Without you, none of this would be possible.
This event is truly special, so much so, that we're already looking forward to next year!
