Messages from Year 4 staff

Every few days, a different adult in Year 4 is going to write to you all to say hello!

Hi Year 4,

I can't believe we are coming to the end of another week.  I hope you are all still well and are managing to have lots of fun at home as well as completing some work.

I am amazed at the work I have seen on Google Classroom and also sent by email.  You are doing fantastically.

Earlier this week, I took part in a family Zoom talent show.  Everyone in my family had to think of something to perform.  It was great to see everyone having some fun!  Some of the acts included: poetry reading, dancing, hula hooping, telling jokes and balancing a spoon on a nose (this was probably my favourite!). What would you choose to do in a talent show?

I decided to be really brave and play the ukulele for everyone.  I learn a new tune to play and everyone enjoyed listening to it!  I recorded it and have saved it below.  I hope you like it! Have you learnt a new skill since school closed? I would love to hear all about it, if you have.

Have you seen the latest staff art challenge video?  I had lots of fun creating my piece of art and learnt some new photo editing skills so that I could put the photo that Mrs Mogford took onto a picture with me.  We might show you the original pictures one day...!

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend.

Take care and keep on smiling,

Miss Goldwater

Hi Year 4,

Here we are still in lockdown but keeping safe which is the main thing.  Miss Goldwater has been sending through letters that you have been sending in on Google Classroom and it’s so nice to hear what you have been up to.  Sometimes when we are in school we are so busy we don’t get time to chat so this has been a positive thing.

The weather has been on our side and we haven’t had too much rain, which makes it easier for us all to get our exercise.  I know you all hate wet play so at least you haven’t had many of them.  I have been doing my garden; it’s never looked so tidy and have been adding bits to my fairy garden (unfortunately no fairies have visited yet).

Stay safe and keep well that includes all your families and friends.

See you soon,

Mrs Stacey

Hello all my lovely year 4s,

I hope that you are all happy and well! I've loved reading all your letters about what you've been up to during lockdown – you've done some wonderful activities and it's good to see you have been keeping busy!

As you know from Miss Goldwater I've been practising my timetables on TTRS and am very proud to be a Rock Hero.  I know I need to keep practising though to catch up with lots of you guys!!

I've had lots of fun taking part in the teacher challenges – I hope you all have enjoyed watching them. It was amazing to see 4C's version of the Loo Roll Challenge. It made me so happy to see so many of your faces!! I'd love to see a 4G one too if any of you want to do one. I hope you've all been inspired by our Art Challenge – I know how creative you all are!

I've been very busy watering my new grass which is beginning to some places and keeping the pigeons from eating the seeds – I feel a bit like a scarecrow!

Lots of love,

Mrs Mogford xXx

Hello Year 4,

I spent a joyful morning yesterday reading through your beautiful letters. You have all been keeping so busy and I am so proud of how you are all coping with lockdown.

Remember it isn't forever and we will be back together in Whitings Hill School very soon. I cannot wait!

I see some of you at the teaching hub at Foulds School and it has been a pleasure. For those of you not at the hub, keep learning and accessing the wonderful learning and spend this time with your loved ones.

Keep well and I will see you all soon.

Mrs. Abdel-All

Hello my lovely Year 4's,

I thought I would give you a bit of an update with everything I have been doing in the past week.

Last week was a really rainy week but I still managed to go out for exercise most days.  I spent lots of time last week learning how to use Google Classroom and also finding some new exciting learning for you all to complete.  I am really enjoying using Google Classroom and think it is a great way for us all to keep in touch more.    I also spent the day at Foulds School on Thursday and did some art work with the children there. We did Lego printing, which was very good but also very, very messy!

I have started learning to play the ukulele and I am really enjoying it.  It can be really tricky sometimes though and there have been points where I wanted to give up but I am keeping going.  I have learnt to play a few songs on it already.  I have saved a sound clip of me playing a song.  Can you guess what it is?

I am still missing you all loads and think about you all lots.  I hope you and your families are all safe and well.

Remember to stay home, stay safe and have lots and lots of fun.

Miss Goldwater

Hi Year 4,
I hope you are working hard and enjoying this time with your families. We have been very busy here at my house and have done some decorating.
I’ve learned how to do some stuff for school work on the computer so I feel a bit like Bill Gates. although I still wouldn’t be able to do half as much as you can, I bet! It’s May Day today and I remember when I was your age we used to have to dance around a May Pole at school, at our May Fair, in front of all the parents. I’m sure you’d be able to find some pictures in the history pages somewhere to show you what it was like!
My family have been having quiz evenings and games evenings to pass the time away where we would normally go out together so that has been fun. I have really enjoyed seeing some of your work on our class page, well done for putting your efforts up there for us to see.
I hope to see you soon, stay well.

Mrs Hayhoe

Hi Year 4,

How are you all?  I can’t believe how long it has been since I saw you all… I am missing teaching you all loads and seeing your faces each day.  Hopefully, it won’t be too long until I get to see you all again though.smiley

I hope you are managing to keep in touch with each other.  It is really important to stay in touch and see how each other are.  I have been making sure to speak to my friends and family regularly and really enjoy video calling them.  I do sometimes get told off for pulling silly faces at them though!

Last week, I spent the day at Foulds School and really enjoyed it.  I was lucky enough to see Nola and Alexis as well as other children from our school.  By the end of the day, I was exhausted though and needs to have a rest!  I am there again this Thursday so am really looking forward to it.

As well as going to Foulds last week, I spent lots of time updating our web page and recorded myself reading a story for you all.  It is on Google Classroom – I hope you enjoy it.  I spent the rest of the time enjoying the lovely weather we had.  I’m a bit disappointed with the forecast for this week but I’m still going to go out for my daily exercise, as long as it isn’t pouring down with rain.

As I think I am going to be spending more time indoors this week, I have decided to learn something new.  I have ordered a ukulele and I am going to teach myself how to play!  If I manage to learn how to play a song, I will record it for you, but it may take a while.  I have never played a string instrument before, but I did play the flute when I was younger so will be able to read the music and know what to play (just won’t know how to play it…).

I feel like I need to update you on TTRS… so as you know, I somehow got myself into a competition with Mrs Mogford. It was quite stressful at times, especially because my studio speed would get faster and then slower.   However, I am VERY happy to announce that I am still faster than Mrs Mogford AND I am incredibly proud to say that I am a Rock Hero.  Mrs Mogford – you were a great competitor but I think you need to admit defeat!cheeky (A big well done to Mrs Mogford too – she is a Rock Hero too… just not as fast as me).

Remember, be kind to everyone at home, have fun and stay safe.

Miss Goldwater

Hi Year 4,

Hope you are all well and keeping yourself busy. I have been to Foulds and saw some familiar faces. At least my day went quickly but I must admit I felt a bit tired after a day at school, it’s tiring stuff! We did the Joe Wicks workout and the reception children did Go Noodle. I didn’t see a lot of your entries on St George’s Day competition. I have been keeping an eye on the Whitings website.

I have been going for some long walks, some so long my legs were aching afterwards!  I am lucky to have some woods at the top of my road so last night went for a walk and saw about 50 deer running around. If I see them again, I will try and get a photo.

I bet you are all missing your friends.   I know I am but it won’t be long before you see them. I know one thing I am missing is getting my hair cut... I will be like a yeti by the time we get back!

Oh well to finish on a nice note, here is a picture of the woods that I go walking in:

Mrs Stacey

Hi everyone,

I hope have been enjoying this amazing weather we've been having.  I certainly have!  The sunshine makes me feel so happy!

Each day, I am continuing to make sure I find some exciting and interesting things for you to learn.  I am really enjoying seeing the work you are doing and am pleased that we are starting to hear from more of you.  If you haven't emailed us yet, please do!  I think about all of you lots and lots and hope you are all safe, well and having lots of fun.

Once I have finished my work each day, I then make sure I get my daily exercise by going for a walk. I have been trying to discover new parks and open spaces near where I live.

I seem to have got into a TTRS competition with Mrs Mogford and it has meant that I have been even more determined to get my rock speed faster.  I have put a screenshot below of one of the studio games I played.  It was my faster ever score! I was really proud of myself (and it meant that I got even faster than Mrs Mogford wink)

I am at Foulds School today (Thursday 23rd) so looking forward to seeing a few of you there.

Take care and keep on smiling,

Miss Goldwater laugh

Hi guys,

I hope that you all had a wonderful Easter and didn't eat too much chocolate! I've been keeping busy by doing some gardening. I'm trying to grow some grass but it's not going so well.  My cat keeps going on the grass seed! Although l am lucky as we have some beautiful flowers blooming at the moment. I hope that you and all your families are safe and well. Have you been doing some exercise? I've been going for bike rides for my daily exercise. I've been practising my times tables and I'm pleased to say I've improved my speed - I'm catching up to Miss Goldwater (she wasn't very happy when l told her). Seeing all the lovely photos of you and the amazing work that you have been doing makes me really happy as l am missing you all so very much!

Lots of love,

Mrs Mogford xXx

To my lovely Year 4's,

I hope you are all managing to enjoy your Easter holidays.  I know it is difficult not being able to go out lots and also spend time with friends and family you don't live with, but it won't be forever.  Soon enough, things will go back to normal.smiley

I am missing you all lots and lots and lots.  I feel incredibly lucky to have taught all of you and just wanted to say that you are all AMAZING.   I am really enjoying seeing the work you are completing at home. Next week, once we have started setting you more work, please can you send me some more?  You could also just send me a message to say hello! (I will keep nagging you about this! wink)

Since my last message, I have been reading lots.  I find that reading helps me to feel relaxed.  I have enjoyed sitting out in the sunshine whilst reading my Kindle.  I hope you have all been reading lots too.  I have also been making sure to go out for a daily walk to get some fresh air.  Today, I went on a long walk to a local park near to where I live.  The sun was shining and it was lovely to see lots of signs of spring.  I took a few photos to show you. I hope you like them!

A big well done to all the children that have completed their Rock Slam against me.  Some of you are incredibly fast and makes me realise I have to practise lots to try and get as fast as you.laugh  A massive well done to Danny, Delta, Oaklei, Niketh and Kasra who all managed to beat my score.

Keep being amazing and take care,

Miss Goldwater

Dear Year 4,

I have been busy baking banana loaf whilst off school.  It was my first time ever.  I have shared a picture with you below.

Also, my friend rescued a fox cub yesterday and sent me some photos. I thought you would like to see them. It was underneath her decking.  Her neighbours have been feeding the mum for a few weeks but hadn't seen her for a few days...

I hope you have been able to enjoy the sunshine!

Mrs Hayhoe

Hi Year 4,

Mrs Stacey checking in to make sure you are all doing well.  Hope you had a nice Easter and didn’t eat too much chocolate, unlike me.  The weather has been nice and sunny so that’s a blessing, especially if you have a garden.  I hear you have been working hard (hope that’s true) and still getting better than me at your times tables.  I am going to have to put a lot of work into learning them to catch up with you guys.  Missing you all so much as I am rattling around to try and find things to do in between working.

My house has never been so clean!  Hope you're still washing your hands as much.  We need to keep this up! I bet at home you're allowed more than one piece of kitchen towel (parents/carers are nicer than me).

Hope you all enjoyed your Easter egg competition and now thinking of the St George’s Day one . Oh well, had better get on and do some more times tables.  Keep washing your hands and stay safe.

See you soon - that’s if you remember me - my hair is growing quite a lot!

Year 4,

I have challenged each of you to a Rock Slam on TT Rock Stars.  I wonder if you can beat me? surprise

It is my aim to get faster on it and become a Rock Hero!  Maybe one day I'll be as fast as Oaklei and Danny...

Miss Goldwater

Dear Year 4,

This is my 3rd Thursday of not seeing you and I am missing you all. I'm missing our Maths and Science lessons together.

I bet the Wild area at school is really changing at the moment, especially with it being Spring time. I've included a couple of pictures from my garden. If you are lucky enough to have a garden, I hope you are spending time in it. Maybe you could do a photo diary of how it changes over the coming weeks. When this 'craziness' is over, because it will be over, I will look forward to seeing your photos.

As well as doing some work for school, I'm reading, doing my family tree, sleeping!! talking on face time and zoom to friends and family, looking after myself and generally trying to adapt to the 'new normal'.

Lots of love and virtual hugs

Miss Ogden xx

Hi year 4,

Hope you're all ok.  I have been kept quite busy since the last time we met, although I’m not getting up as early as usual. My days are packed with things to do.  I expect you're quite busy as well especially as I saw all the work you were given.  I have been keeping an eye on the school's webpage and can see that everyone is keeping up with all that hard work.  Well done you lot!  Another thing I was going to say was I hope you're all washing your hands as much.  You know how I loved the washing hands especially those who came to breakfast club.  Now I have touched my keypad, I had better go and wash my hands!  Stay safe, wash hands.  Will see you soon (I know your missing me) smiley.  Don’t forget to do the Easter egg competition,  it will give me something to look at.
Mrs Stacey

Good morning lovely Year 4,

Just a quick message to say I finished my mindful colouring and wanted to share it with you.  It took me a very long time to complete but I hope you like it!smiley

Yesterday, I was at Foulds and it was really lovely seeing some of you.   I hope everyone else is safe and well and I look forward to reading some messages and seeing work from you all.  Remember, you can email:

Have a great day

Miss Goldwater

Well hello Year 4,

I hope you are all doing well and you are all busying yourselves with lots of the activities we have online for you as well as going out for your daily walk, bike or scooter ride and just spending precious time with your family.

I have been amazed by all the work you are doing, Don't forget to do lots of reading, or ask your Parents and Carers to read to you. I am making my way through books that have been sitting on my shelf for months and months!

Tomorrow I will post some pictures of my two crazy cats, who are definitely finding it very weird NOT having the house to themselves!

I will message to all tomorrow. I cannot tell you how much I miss teaching and you all.

Mrs. Abdel-All

Hello Year 4,

I hope you're working hard but that you managed to enjoy the sunshine and springtime feel last week.  I've been doing a bit of training to learn more about being a TA.

I'd love to see some more of the work you've been doing and hear about what you have been enjoying since we finished school.

Mrs Hayhoe

Hi Year 4,

It's Miss Goldwater 😊. Hope you are all safe, well and having some fun at home! I am missing seeing all your lovely smiles each day but really enjoying seeing the fantastic work you are completing.  Would love to see even more emailed to us.

Each day, I am trying to find lots of different work for you to complete. Remember to make sure you are reading every day and have a go at a range of different subject areas. There is loads to choose from!

I've been enjoying going for a long walk each day in the sunshine (making sure to stay 2 metres away from anyone else out walking), reading and also doing some of my mindful colouring book.  Once I've completed my picture, I will share it with you all.

Take care,

Miss Goldwater 😀

Hi, it's Mrs Mogford here to say a big hello to all our lovely year 4s!

Well it's the end of our first week working from home and I hope that you are all happy and well!

I've seen some fantastic examples of all the wonderful work that you have been doing – keep it up!

Although life has been very quiet without you all, I've found I've settled in to a good routine. I've been doing PE with Joe Wicks every morning at 9 O’Clock and then starting my homework (yes even we have homework to do). It’s been nice having some time to do some things I don't often have time to do - I've completed a big puzzle of a harbour, I've finished a book about time travel and I've been playing lots of board games with my son.

I hope that you have been finding the work being set interesting and challenging as well as doing lots of nice things.

Bye for now,

Mrs Mogford xx
