At last March has arrived and brings with it lighter evenings and better weather (hopefully). Our current outdoor PE focus is hockey, the children are quickly picking up the rules and already we are improving our skills at passing to their opponents and protecting the ball as they move across the hockey pitch. This is our last games focus for this academic year as after the Easter holidays we will spend the Summer term developing our athletics skills.
We are still working hard on our current topic 'Earth and Space.’ As part of this topic the children will be given the opportunity to paint the solar system and moon, listen and respond to the music of Gustav Holst, investigate features of the planets, learn about the history of space travel and investigate light. It is a wonderful topic that is very engaging and greatly appeals to the children.
We are busy perfecting our performance for our class assembly which will take place on Monday 16th March at 9.00 am in the school hall. Please come to watch and support your child. It’s a great assembly - all about our solar system and it’s not to be missed. I look forward to seeing you there.
The children will be making their own information films using the computer application Movie Maker. The aim of each film is to inform your audience about important facts about the solar system. The skills the children will practise and demonstrate include incorporating text formatting, transition effects, text effects and all sorts of other wonderful things to make their films as interesting and eye catching as possible.
Yesterday (03.03.19) we celebrated World Book Day and everyone had a wonderful time in 5M. The children came to school dressed as a book character of their choice, we swapped books and had a fantastic ‘Book Breakfast’. It was heartening to have so many parents and younger siblings join us for breakfast in our classroom, it really shows the children how much adults value reading. Thank you to everyone who attended and supported this event. A great photo of us all is in the photo section of our class page – see if you can spot yourself.
Thank you for your ongoing support, it really is appreciated. See you at Parents Evening at the beginning of next month, we will have the opportunity to discuss your child's school report (reports go out on Friday 29th March and Parents Evening is the following week).
