Listen to the story carefully with your child, stop and talk about what is happening, ask questions and try and remember the parts which had an impact. Talk about the illustrations and the vibrant colours, emphasise on the positive ending and the beautiful rainbow and its colour's.
Help your child recap the story using their own words, talk about the beginning, middle and the end.
Make a Weather Chart.
Can you make your own weather chart? Go or look outside every day and see what the weather is like.
Can you draw a symbol to represent the different types of weather?
Can you make a chart with a space for the days of the week and label them?
At the end of the week see how many days we have had sun? How many days it has rained?
This is a great activity for extending your child's vocabulary and at the same time including mark making.
