This week the children enjoyed looking at the popular story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. They learnt about the life cycle of a caterpillar, wrote little books and sequenced the story-carefully thinking about the different days of the week.
Also this week the children had fun celebrating Valentine’s Day at our school disco. We also thought about the people we care about and love.
The children were all amazing performers at our Dance Festival. They wowed us with their enthusiasm and love for dancing. We were so proud of how they learnt all the moves and performed with such confidence and joy. We hope you all enjoyed the performance as much as us.
After half term we will be looking at different poems, listening to them and creating poems with the children.
10th February 2020
This week has been full of exercise, healthy eating and drinking. We focussed on ‘Healthy lifestyle’. We have had many discussions about exercise and how to keep healthy. We used various materials to make healthy meals on paper plates and in lunch boxes and we wrote shopping lists.
In maths we have been exploring 3D shapes. The children have been naming the shapes and finding out how many corners, faces and curved sides the 3D shapes have.
The emphasis on healthy eating will lead us into our learning next week - where we will look at the popular story “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” by Eric Carle.
We will be ordering days of the week, making flap books, exploring the concept of symmetry through designing our own butterflies and sequencing the life cycle of a butterfly.
