National Curriculum for Swimming

 

By the end of key stage 2 children will be required to do the following:

  • Perform a safe-self rescue in different water based situations
  • Swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25m
  • Use a range of strokes effectively, for example, frontcrawl, backstroke and breaststroke

 

Please see below the percentage of children who can swim 25m by the end of Year 6:

 

2016 - 95%

2017 - 95%

2018 - 98%

2019 - 100%

2020 - 98%

2021 - 100%
