WELCOME TO 2R
Teachers: Ms Robinson & Miss McHugh
Teaching Assistant: Mrs Lindsay.
How quickly is this half term going! We are busy learning lots and having fun. We are amazed at how the children have setted back into our new school routines and are so keen to do well and learn!
In English we are looking at a book called 'Man on the Moon.' This has helped excite our creative skills and we have been on a trip to the moon and imagined what it was like to step from the rocket onto the planet. The children have been very creative with their writing and are learning how to improve their written work as well as highlighting what they are proud of.
Well done with your spellings too! We have so many super spellers in 2R our Spelling Bee charts are filling up quickly!
In Maths we are continuing with Place Value. Looking at the values of numbers, making comparisions and using mathematical langauge 'greater than' and 'less than' as well as challenging ourselves to work out the 'difference' between 2 numbers.
We really are Rocket Maths Whizzes and many children have achieved Level One Rocket Maths and 5 of 2R have achieved Level Two Rocket Maths so we are now warming up by practising our X2,X5,X10 times table ready to have a go at Bronze level in the school's Times Table Challenge.
In Science we are looking at Materials and our topic is Great Explorers which links well to our English book as we are going to learn about Neil Armstrong and Tim Peake - two inspirational people. We will also learn about other famous explorers. I wonder if you can recall any from our recent history work?
Have a look in our topic folder for more information.
It's a great start to Year 2 so let's keep going!
