P.E. in Nursery

In Nursery we do lots of physical activities in our outside areas. Physical  development is a prime area in the early years curriculum and exposure to effective physical activities is essential to the good development of gross and fine motor skills.

We also use the main  school halls to do our PE. Each Nursery session  does PE once a week. The children do not get changed, but they do take off and put on their own shoes and socks. This helps to develop their skills of independence and prepares them for reception classes, where they may  change into PE kits.

During PE we do a variety of activities to develop physical skills, listening  skills, imagination, skills of cooperation and the ability to follow instructions, perseverance and satisfaction at achieving goals.

Activities include, dance and  drama, yoga, using the small and large apparatus, parachute games and whole class circle games.
