21st October 2016

This week the children have been enjoying the theme of Superheroes! We dressed up as superheroes, made masks and created our own superhero cities from a range of construction kits! Thank you for bringing in superhero books from home. The children enjoyed sharing them with the other children.

After half term, we will be learning about Diwali - a festival celebrated by Hindu people.  We will tell them the story of Rama and Sita, we will make diva lamps and look at and recreate Rangoli patterns.

14th October 2016

This week the children have enjoyed bringing in an object for ‘Every object tells a story’ related to their family. The children talked about what their object meant to them and why it was significant to them. Furthermore, we have been reading stories and taking part in activities to help us understand different lives, cultures and experiences in celebrating Black History Month. The children made some wonderful necklaces recreating ‘Kente patterns’ and made creative animal prints and animal homes in playdoh.

Next week ‘s theme will be Superheroes! Activities will include role playing favourite Superheroes, making masks, creating our own superheroes and making Superhero cities! If you have any books on this theme that we could share with the children please could you bring them in on Monday. Thank you.

7th October 2016

This week we have been looking at the story “Goldilocks and the three bears”. We role played the story, made Goldilocks and bear masks and tried our own porridge. We also used different construction sets to make beds and chairs for the bears.

Next week’s theme will be, ‘Every object tells a story’. Please could your children bring in an object related to the family’s history by Tuesday 11th October. The children will share and talk about the object - where it is from and what it means to them. We will also be reading stories, such as,’ Handa’s Surprise’ and ‘So much’, and recreating at ‘Kente patterns’.

Could you also bring in some sticks, conkers and leaves for our Autumn themed display.
