November already - time is flying by so fast it's hard to keep pace with it. The children are rising to all the challenges put before them and are keen to share their existing knowledge and skills while at the same time developing new ones.
We have successfully completed our first half term of learning in Year Four and the children all performed well in their half termly maths assessments that they did before the half term holiday. I will be using the results to help plan our up coming maths lessons this half term.
Our new topic for this half term is called 'On Tap - Water' a paper copy of this topic web has been sent home with your child and an electronic version is available to download on this, our 4M page. Please keep your copy on display so you can discuss with your child what we are doing each week in class.
A big thank you to everyone for attending our parents consultation evenings, it was a pleasure to have the opportunity to discuss your child's progress and attainment with you. It was reassuring to see how highly you value your child's education and how much you support everything we do in school - your children are lucky to have such dedicated parents and carers.
November is a busy month for 4M. Preparations are underway for our Christmas concert and I'm sure you will be hearing your child singing Christmas songs to his/herself over the coming weeks! Our class assembly takes place on Monday 14th November at 9.00 am in the hall. The children have had time to learn their lines and song words over the half term holiday so our practises are going well. Please come along on the day and support your child, it makes them so proud and happy knowing they have family members in the audience. It will be fantastic and is not to be missed.
We have completed our first 'Year Four Spelling Bee.' It was a hotly contested event and the children are clearly very engaged with our new whole school approach to spelling and their spelling abilities are improving as a result - keep up the spelling practise at home, it makes a massive difference to their writing in school. The winners of our Spelling Bee will receive a certificate in assembly soon.
