This week we have been learning about ‘People who help us’ at school. The writing area became a school office and the children enjoyed role playing teachers and other adults they know in the school. Some children interviewed different staff and found out all about the jobs they do! We also wrote thank you letters to some of the people who help us and we discussed their important roles.
After half term children will be looking at the text ‘Flat Stanley’. Activities that week will include writing postcards, investigating maps and turning our home corner into a travel agents. We will explore where we would choose to go in the world if we were flat like Stanley? Furthermore, children will share their Flat Stanley homework with the class.
This week we have been learning about ‘People who help us’. The children have had fun role playing in the Police station and the Fire station being firefighters and policemen!
Next week we will be continuing to talk about the people who help us but focussing on ‘School’. Our writing area will turn into a school office and we will be role playing teachers. We will find out about the staff at school and the jobs they do by interviewing them. We will also write thank you letters to some of the people who help us in our school.
This week we have been learning about ‘People who help us’. We focussed on the roles of ‘ Doctors and Nurses’, and about what doctors do to help us! The children have had fun making their own x-rays and doctor’s equipment and helped to turn our role play area into a doctor’s surgery.
Next week we will need to add to our resources for our topic .We would like to make a Police station and a Fire station. Please could you help by providing cardboard rolls and clean, empty plastic milk bottles.
Furthermore, we would appreciate any role play dressing up or people who help us playsets that you may not use anymore. Thank you.
This week, we finished reading the story, ‘Oh no George’. We role played some of the scenes in the story and wrote some thought bubbles, we recreated some illustrations by Chris Haughton and made our own ‘Oh no George!’ books.
For the rest of the term we will be looking at ‘People who help us’. Next week we will focus on Doctors and Nurses. We will talk about what doctors do to help us, make our own x-rays and doctor’s equipment and turn our role play area into a doctor’s surgery.
As we are making our own doctors equipment, we will need lots of junk modelling resources. Can you please provide us with egg boxes and any other boxes or containers? Thank you.
