This week we’ve enjoyed our theme of ‘pizza’. We turned our writing area into a pizzeria restaurant. We wrote down our customers’ orders, read menus and role played making pizza’s. We also talked about pizzas and where they originate from. We made paper plate pizzas, pizza boxes and playdough pizzas.
Gold Group visited Pizza Express, where we made our own pizza’s, looked around the restaurant and enjoyed our bus journey back to school. We had so much fun!
Next week, we will look at the story, ‘Supertato’- a superhero potato who tries to save his vegetable and fruit friends from the evil pea! We will read the story, design our own vegetable superhero, make superhero masks, and we will explore how the characters are feeling in the story through role play and use speech bubbles. We will also be turning our writing area into a superhero den, where we can dress up and write superhero messages.
If you have any superhero stories at home, please feel free to bring them into school and we will share them with the class throughout the week.

This week was ‘Walk to School Week’. We completed whole class and individual tally charts about how we all travel to school, talked about the importance of walking to school, how to stay safe on the roads and thought about other ways to keep our bodies fit and healthy. We looked for our school on google maps and discussed the surrounding area - familiar roads, buildings, shops etc. Some of us made maps of our journeys to school and some of us talked about our journey using a screen shot of google maps.

We will be turning our writing area into a pizzeria restaurant, where we can write down orders, read menus and role play making pizza’s. This week we continued looking at the book ‘Yucky Worms’. We made up our own worm poems based on Spike Milligan’s poem ‘Today I saw a little worm’, we created our own ‘Yucky Worms’ zig zag books and wrote a letter back to Mr. Wormy, telling him all the things we have found out about worms. We’ve also been keeping an eye on our wormery to make sure they are doing well. We safely released our worms back into the wooded area.
