This week the children have enjoyed being pirates. They have dressed up, made telescopes, drawn their own treasure maps and gone on treasure hunts.
Next week we will be enjoying the theme of Magical Maths! The children will be going to a special assembly on Tuesday and will be engaging in lots of ‘magical maths activities’ all week! We will also be celebrating Chinese New Year. They will be learning about the Chinese culture and seeing how people celebrate this festival. We will be looking at the story of Chinese New Year ‘The Great Race’, making lanterns and painting dragons. We will be looking at Chinese writing and numbers. We will also be making noodles and discussing the different foods in other cultures.

This week the children have enjoyed the story of’ We’re going on a Bear Hunt’. Activities have included making story maps, role playing the story, going on a bear hunt and making obstacle courses with the Bee bot’s.
Next week we will be enjoying the theme of Pirates ! We will be looking at the book ‘The Night Pirates’ by Peter Harris. Children will enjoy making Pirate props such as eye patches and hats. There will be opportunities to make their own Treasure maps and books about Pirates as well as painting and drawings.

This week the children have been talking about ‘Winter’. We have made mind maps of the Season ‘Winter’ and talked about activities we can do according to Winter weather, clothing we wear and animals hibernating. The children have enjoyed the story of One Snowy Night and role played the sequence and became characters from the story using props to help them.

Welcome back ! We hope you enjoyed your Christmas break and the children have been very excited to be back and taking part in our Winter themed activities. This week the children have been talking about ‘Winter’. Thank you to parents who have brought in winter stories to share with all the children. The children have enjoyed sharing and listening to such a wonderful variety of books. Please continue to do so as the children love sharing their books!
The children have enjoyed this theme and we will continue with this next week. We will be sharing the story “One Snowy Night” and learning lots of actions to go with the story. Activities will include role playing the story using props from a story basket, talking about winter and the changes in seasons eg. Weather, hibernation and investigating animal habitats.
