This week we have been looking at the story of Blue Penguin. The character from the story wrote us a letter and asked for our help. Blue Penguin set us the challenge to find out some facts about penguins to make sure that he is one. We looked at non- fiction texts about Penguins and researched information on the internet using the mini laptops. We also made glitter snowflake pictures and winter/Christmas pictures using different shapes.

This week we have been enjoying the book ‘Blue Penguin’ by Petr Horacek. We talked about Antarctica and learnt about different types of Arctic animals. Children made Penguins and other Arctic animals from cardboard rolls. We introduced the story and talked about the illustrations from the text. The children took part in activities exploring ice and water, drawing Arctic scenes in the style of illustrations from Petr Horacek’s texts and looking at maps/ globes to see Antarctica’s location in relation to where we live in the world.
