Beegu

Over the past 4 weeks, we have been looking at the story 'Beegu'. We have explored this book in great detail by reading a page at a time and discussing many different topics throughout. We started off by looking at the front cover of the book. We discussed what we noticed and then what we wanted to find out. We delved deeper into the book talking about what we liked/disliked about the story so far, predicting what might have happened next, talking about the feelings of the character by focussing on body language, role playing certain scenes in the book and saying what they thought and how they felt, creating a setting for Beegu and writing about it, making a friend for Beegu and describing them, interviewing Beegu through hot seating and writing a diary entry as Beegu. We ended this teaching sequence by creating a collaborative poem in small groups.
