6E's Class Page


Well done to all the Year 6s for their excellent work in the KS2 SATs. You all worked exceptionally hard preparing for the tests and deserve to do really well. 


We designed front covers for our suspense stories using press printing technique. We created the printing blocks using polystyrene tiles. 


It has been a very busy Summer term so far for Year 6.


In English we watched the animation 'Francis' by Dave Eggers. This is a thrilling suspense story about a girl who goes out alone in a boat on a lake in the middle of the isolated woods. She soon realises that she is not the only one on the lake that night. The story ends with a gripping cliffhanger. We used this as a stimulus to write our own suspense stories with cliffhanger endings.

After returning from our school journey, we will be writing information texts about Condover Hall, including a personal recount.   


We covered lots of data, algebra and problem solving work in Maths at the beginning of this term as well as continually revisiting and revising arithmetic. This helped to prepare us fully for the SATs test. Our work after school journey will focus on exploring and investigating number systems and investigating, creating and solving a range of number puzzles and problems.  


Our topic work this term will include a study of a non-European society. The children will get the opportunity to find out about the characteristic features of the Mayans. We will study the hierarchical system in Maya society and investigate what daily life was like, including finding out about the deadly Maya ball game.      


Our final topic is called 'Fit for Life' wherein we will explore a range of ways in which we can improve our physical fitness, learn more about our bodies and how we can keep them in good condition.
